Objectifs d'apprentissage
This course is focused on two relevant aspects of the Electrochemical Nano-Bio-technology for CMOS sensing in life science: the Nano/Bio and the Bio/CMOS interfaces. In particular, improvement due to nano-structures in bioactive interfaces and special architectures for CMOS-based detection of bio-functionality will be demonstrated. Initially, an introduction to bio-molecules will be provided. Protein-protein interactions and oligo-oligo interactions will be introduced with the aim to show possible sensing mechanisms. Different techniques to immobilize proteins or oligos into nano-structured molecular films will be presented. The Physics and quantum phenomena in the obtained nano-bio interfaces will be deeply discussed with special focus on the improvements in terms of specificity and sensitivity. Analog CMOS building blocks will be proposed and explained. Examples of different CMOS architectures integrated with nano- and bio-structures for sensing purposes will be presented and deeply discussed. Finally, the problem of energy scavenging and remote powering in case of implantable Nano-Bio-CMOS interfaces will be briefly introduced and discussed
